"I am pleased to welcome Josh Galper to the firm, a strategic step as we concentrate on taking The Tabb Group to the next level," said Larry Tabb, CEO and founder. "Since our launch only a year ago last June, we've handled more than 20 major consulting projects for top tier financial firms and leading IT vendors throughout the US and Europe, presented at over 40 major conference and client events and produced a series of industry advisory reports, the last, Institutional Equity Trading in America: A Buy-Side Perspective. Now, we’re opening a New York City office on Wall Street. Our services are clearly in demand and Josh will immediately help us serve that quickly expanding base of clients."

Mr. Galper joins The Tabb Group from Nonlinear Markets, Inc., a consulting firm he launched after serving as head of electronic trading at Sanford C. Bernstein, now a subsidiary of Alliance Capital (NYSE: AC), where he created a new trading venue at the firm, was responsible for product development and execution and was the face of the desk to more than 35 buy-side clients. He oversaw the installation of a tick database, including historical tick data and real-time data feeds and drove acceptance of algorithm-driven trading there. He joined Sanford C. Bernstein from Merrill Lynch where he was vice president in the institutional division, first in global equities, later in clearing, settlement and prime brokerage. Hired as a market structure expert, he was also active in strategic capital investments for equities and options trading and acted as a product development manager for creating a new electronic market-making desk. He also served as the local lead for the sale of Merrill’s clearing, settlement and custody division in Canada.

As an independent economist, he was a consultant for the World Federation of Exchanges, UNICEF, the World Health Organization and the Harvard Institute for International Development, and helped start LifeHarbor, a provider of quantitative asset management tools with clients such as Massachusetts Financial Services.

He holds a BA in international affairs from Connecticut College, a Master’s in applied economics from Cornell University and an MBA in financial engineering from MIT Sloan School of Management.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to become a part of an already strong advisory business led by an industry expert with Larry’s reputation. I’m looking forward to helping The Tabb Group expand its capabilities and help firms develop and execute their financial markets vision," said Galper.
