Merrigan has nearly 30 years of experience addressing the structure and adequacy of corporate insurance and risk management programs. He succeeds Cathy McKeon who retired in July.

Mike Burwell, Transaction Services leader for the Americas, said, "The caliber of an acquisition candidate's risk management programs has become increasingly important in recent years. The extensive risk management expertise John and his team bring to M&A transactions adds a vital dimension to the due diligence we offer our clients. I am confident that in his new role John will take our risk management diligence and advisory services to an even higher level."

Merrigan has worked in a wide range of industries, and is the outsourced risk management advisor for a major private equity firm's portfolio companies. He has also served as the risk management member of PricewaterhouseCoopers' national captive insurance company team.

Merrigan has been part of PwC's Insurance Risk Management Practice for the past eight years, most recently serving as a managing director based in New York. Prior to joining PricewaterhouseCoopers, Merrigan spent over sixteen years with Venator Group, Inc., the former Woolworth Corporation, in various risk and claims capacities, eventually holding the position of Assistant Treasurer, Corporate Risk Management. He began his career with Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.

A graduate of Villanova University, he is an Associate in Risk Management (ARM), accredited by the Insurance Institute of America.
