As Managing Director for Ingenico – Northern Europe, Nick Parsons will be responsible for driving revenue and profit growth in the UK, Ireland, Benelux countries, Scandinavia and Iceland.

Since joining Ingenico – Northern Europe in October 2005 as Sales & Marketing Director, he has played a vital role in helping Ingenico prosper under extremely competitive conditions.

Based in Scotland, Nick brings a vast experience to his new role having held senior positions in the Information Technology Sector for over 25 years.

Joining Nick at Ingenico UK is Alastair Hogben who has been appointed Head of Marketing. Formerly Marketing Manager at Sopra Newell & Budge, he will be responsible for Marketing across Northern Europe.

As Managing Director Nick will focus on driving incremental revenue and profit growth from both new and existing markets and he believes opportunities exist in the market to significantly boost turnover beyond its current level of nearly £60 million.

Nick said: "The UK has been the first in Europe to embrace Chip and PIN and the expertise we have developed places us in an excellent position to maximise the market opportunities that are now opening up across the Northern region as other countries move to adopt Chip and PIN.

"Going forward a key area for us will be Contactless which has been a vision of the future but is now ready for deployment. It is going to completely change the way we acquire information and pay for goods and services. Initially Contactless cards will be used for low value purchases and will involve simply "waving" a card in front of a reader. We are also looking at linking the technology so that people can use their mobile phones to make payment."

Close partnership working will be a key feature of the company’s work in the UK according to Nick: "As shown by the APACS figures, Chip and PIN is having an impact on card fraud in the UK and I am delighted we have been able to play a leading role in this effort. We will be continuing to work closely with our customers to ensure they remain secure against the criminal threat that is moving into areas such as card-not-present transactions."

A worldwide leader in secure transaction and payment systems, Ingenico – Northern Europe has led the introduction of Chip and PIN in the UK and works with some of the leading banks, including Barclays and HSBC, to combat the threat of fraud.

In the Northern European Region, over 800,000 of Ingenico's payment solutions are installed in the Retail, Petrol and Banking markets and Safeway, ASDA, McDonalds, Boots and the major petroleum companies are numbered among the company’s leading customers. Globally, Ingenico has deployed over 10 million terminals across 90 countries and processes in excess of 100 million secure transactions each day.
