Kamakura Corporation announced today that Professor V. Vance Roley has been nominated to the Board of Directors of Kamakura Corporation.

Dr. Roley is Dean of the University of Hawaii at Manoa's College of Business Administration and First Hawaiian Bank Distinguished Professor of Leadership and Management. Kamakura Corporation is one of the world’s leading risk management software and risk information companies and was named Governor’s Exporter of the Year in 2002 by the State of Hawaii.

Dean Roley was named Dean of the College of Business Administration in January 2005 after 21 years at the University of Washington. At the University of Washington, he was Acting Dean and the Hughes M. Blake Professor of Finance at the School of Business. Prior to joining the University of Washington, Dean Roley served as economist and Assistant Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He also served a one year term as senior economist on the President’s Council of Economic Advisers during the Carter Administration with University of Hawaii President David McClain. Dean Roley received his masters and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University and his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley.

"Vance Roley brings both the analytical skills of a very talented financial economist and a broad background in international business to the Board at Kamakura," said Warren Sherman, Kamakura President and Chief Operating Officer. "His business development efforts at the University of Hawaii and his enthusiastic sponsorship of the CBA’s entrepreneurship program give Dean Roley a broad understanding of Kamakura’s business issues now that we have clients in locations as diverse as Slovenia, Poland, Germany, Thailand, China and South Africa. We know that he will be a key adviser in the future success of Kamakura and we are honored that he has agreed to be nominated as an outside director of Kamakura."

"Kamakura Corporation has been one of the State's leading technology companies for many years, and I am very pleased to have the opportunity to assist the management team as the company goes from having clients in 20 countries to having clients in 100 countries around the world," said Dean Roley. "I have known Kamakura chief executive officer Donald R. van Deventer since we entered Harvard together in 1973, and I fully appreciate how hard the management team has worked to get the company to this point. The next decade at Kamakura is going to be very exciting and I hope to make an important contribution to the Company's success."

Dean Roley's nomination will be confirmed at the next shareholders' meeting of Kamakura Corporation. Kamakura founder Donald R. van Deventer and Kamakura President Warren Sherman are the other two director nominees that will be confirmed at the shareholders' meeting. Dean Roley will play key roles on the Company's compensation subcommittee and audit subcommittee of the Board of Directors.
