Smart Payment Solutions, a payment processing company, today has named Shazia Philipsen manager of risk management.
In her new role, Philipsen will work with new clients and bank partners to underwrite new accounts and implement strategies for managing the SPS portfolio.
Before joining Smart Payment Solutions, Philipsen was a risk manager for Lloyds TSB Bank in London, one of the top three banks in the UK, where she supported all non-retail lending business streams to ensure Basel II, FSA and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Prior to that she was senior credit analyst for IBM's Global Commercial Financing Division in Portsmouth, UK, where her focus was on reducing business risk through accurate and detailed analysis of customers' financial status. She has also held accounting roles in the British Consulate General in San Francisco and recently at First American MLS Solutions in Virginia.

Philipsen earned an MBA from Southampton University and a bachelor's degree in psychology. She is fluent in English, Urdu, Punjabi and Spanish.
