Based in Stockholm, Henrik joins Trustly from communications platform Sinch where he served as CTO for the Applications business unit, leading global teams and focusing on integrating acquired companies and creating a shared operating model and technical platform.

Prior to Sinch, Henrik was at Swedish fintech Klarna where he launched the company’s Consumer Growth domain. Henrik also has an extensive entrepreneurial background, previously founding Finsit, a business intelligence tool for accounting data, which was used by over 30,000 companies prior to its acquisition by Wolters Kluwer in 2018.

Henrik’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Trustly, as his expertise will be instrumental in driving continued innovation and growth. Trustly recently announced it is on track to process $100 billion in Total Payments Value (TPV) annually—a landmark achievement that underscores a major shift in the payments landscape, as businesses worldwide increasingly seek alternatives to traditional card payments.

Johan Tjärnberg, Group CEO at Trustly, commented: “Henrik brings a wealth of experience in building resilient, high-performing systems, which will be invaluable as we strengthen our capabilities. His expertise aligns perfectly with our commitment to delivering a more robust and reliable service for our partners. We are delighted to welcome him to the business as we enter our next phase of growth in the months ahead.”

Henrik Wallström, CTO Europe at Trustly, said: “It’s already been an exciting few weeks since joining Trustly. The business’ technology firmly positions it as a leader in the open banking space. I am looking forward to helping the company to continue to innovate in the years ahead and to support the development of new solutions to fuel growth and increase adoption of our game-changing technology.”
