Rutten steps into this role after serving as Chief of Staff.
As CMO, Rutten will assume responsibility for building and executing Backbase’s global marketing strategy at a pivotal time of growth for the company. He will lead the effort to amplify brand positioning, accelerate demand generation, and further solidify Backbase’s leadership position in the digital banking transformation sector.

Jouk Pleiter, Founder and CEO of Backbase, commented on the appointment:
“Tim has been an integral force in driving our strategy and execution, and his deep understanding of both our business and the industry makes him the perfect fit to lead our marketing organization. His strategic vision, proven track record, and relentless passion for innovation will propel Backbase to new heights as we continue to redefine the banking industry. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Tim take the reins as our new CMO.”

Since the end of last year, Rutten has overseen the transformation of Backbase's marketing function into a high-performance growth engine, laying the groundwork for a more agile and deeply customer-centric approach.

"I am honored to take on the role of Chief Marketing Officer at Backbase," said Tim Rutten. "Having been with the company for a decade, I've witnessed firsthand the power of our can-do culture and the positive impact we have on the banking industry. As I step into this new role, I’m more energized than ever to continue working alongside our talented marketing team. Together, we’re not just rewriting the rules of the banking industry - we’re setting a new standard in B2B marketing.”
