Chicago-based Trading Technologies (TT) has opened an office in Sydney, Australia and has appointed Mark Heinz as managing director of the new operation.
In his new role, Heinz will spearhead TT's sales and marketing efforts in the region.
He began his career as a floor broker in a Chicago Board of Trade bond pit. He moved to Sydney in 1997 to trade financial futures at the Sydney Futures Exchange and also assisted in the establishment of an electronic trading operation for Traderspace in conjunction with the exchange. Traderspace developed an electronic trading platform and later sold the technology to Paris-based Ubitrade.
Most recently, Heinz was sales manager for Traderspace, which merged with Transmarket Group in 2002 and is now known as BrokerOne.
Commenting on the new office, Heinz says: "The futures market in Sydney presents TT with incredible expansion opportunities. The area has a high concentration of professional traders, risk managers and financial institutions that are utilizing US and European markets."
TT says it has increased employee headcount by nearly 40% and signed more than 60 new customers in the past 18 months to double its customer base.
