Abbey National uses demo disk to boost online mortgage applications

Abbey National is distributing over 13,000 demo disks to encourage intermediaries to sign up to its interactive Web site for mortgage applications, Introducer Internet.

The site can deliver agreements in principle (AIP) within 60 seconds and features pre-populated mortgage applications using AIP data, real time case tracking and online quotations for general insurance.

Abbey National says the mailing campaign will run until 2 June and will urge intermediaries to move their mortgage applications online.

Jan Errington, group marketing manager, Abbey National for Intermediaries, adds: "The demonstration disk takes the user through the main features of the site step by step to show just how easy it is to complete and submit a mortgage application online."

Since its launch in 2001, over 14,000 intermediaries have registered to use Introducer Internet. Abbey National recently announced that the site had become its single largest channel for mortgage completions, accounting for just over half of all its intermediary mortgage business with over £5 billion agreements in principle (AIP) and £2.4 billion full mortgage applications (FMA) in Q1 2003.
