Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of the UK's Barclays Bank, has appointed Tom Zschach as director and global head of client technology, based in London.

Zschach joins Barclays Capital from Credit Suisse First Boston in New York where he was a director responsible for electronic trading and client connectivity for the securities division. He was previously at Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers in New York.

In his new role, Zschach will be responsible for the development and deployment of Barclays Capital's external-facing applications and services. The client technology team at Barclays Capital has over 100 staff operating in all the major financial centres.

Zschach will report to Kevin O'Reilly, global head of technology and strategic planning.
