The product, initially scheduled for release in fourth quarter 2002, is designed to provide interoperability for payment and securities transactions between counterparties and utilities operating in the wholesale financial markets. Built on the .NET Framework, STP Bridge utilises Microsoft's BizTalk as the underlying integration infrastructure, with the aim of turning connectivity into a commodity.

The product is designed to reduce "connectivity cost of ownership" by 20-35% says CapCo. To this end it supports a large variety of protocols such as SwiftNet FIN, FileAct and InterAct services, Omgeo CTM, Oasys Direct and FIX. It additionally comes equipped with a customisable dashboard that provides information to support exception management as well as STP statistics.

HP, which made a $30 million equity investment in CapCo in January last year, has been brought onboard to provide technology consulting, integration and services capabilities for STP Bridge implementation projects.
