Settrade teams with TAC for mobile stock alerts

Thai online trading firm Settrade.com, has teamed up with telecommunications firm Total Access Communication (TAC) to deliver real-time stock information over mobile handsets.

TAC's DTac and Dprompt customers can subscribe to the service by registering the symbol of the share they are interested in through the SMS system.

Subscribers will then receive SMS messages containing changes in transactions and volume and the best bid and ask price when shares move beyond a predetermined level.

TAC says the service will deliver data for securities on both Set and the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI) as well as information on specific shares.

Wittaya Watcharawityakul, Settrade.com's CEO, says the service will allow investors to follow the news and monitor movements of share prices whenever they want and wherever they are.

The stock information alert is available free on a trial basis until the end of March 2003. Investors do not need to be members of Settrade to subscribe to the service as transaction fees can be charged to monthly mobile bills.
