Reuters reported that hackers had accessed more than two million MasterCard accounts and 3.4 million Visa accounts. The name of the processing company was not disclosed.

Early indications were that none of the information was used in a fraudulent way, says Reuters.

Reuters quoted a spokesman for Visa who said the issuing banks of the affected cards have been notified. Both MasterCard and Visa said no customer would be liable for any charges incurred as a result of fraud in this instance.
