Under the agreement, Bank of America will begin branding the Star mark on its cards and ATMs later this month.

The bank currently utilises ATM processing services from Star parent company Concord EFS for approximately 1100 ATMs deployed in retail locations. The new contract extends the agreement for the use of Concord's processing services.

Bond Isaacson, payments executive at Bank of America, says: "The Star brand has significant value for the Bank of America ATM network and most importantly, our millions of cardholders nationwide."

Star processed approximately 5.5 billion transactions in 2001 via 6230 participating financial institutions at one million participating ATMs and retail locations.
