Wachovia has extended its electronic cheque image service directly to retail and small business online banking customers through firstunion.com.
The bank claims to be the only one of the top 10 US financial institutions to make electronic cheque images available directly to retail and small business online banking customers.
Customers may view both the front and back of cheques posted to their online interim or previous statements on firstunion.com. Customers may also print or save cheque images to their personal computers.
Lawrence Baxter, Wachovia’s chief e-commerce officer, comments: "A cheque image request that would normally take three to five days can now be fulfilled instantly on the Web."
Beth McCague, head of customer service excellence for Wachovia says that since the service was implemented in mid-December, customers have viewed over two million copies of their cheques online.
