India's HDFC Bank is streamlining its IT administration and customer service operations using Computer Associates International's Unicenter product suite.
Unicenter monitors, manages and controls the company's expanding network, which interconnects 20 Sun Solaris servers, 200 Intel-based servers and 3500 desktops across India, as part of HDFC's retail and corporate banking operations. The network also supports the bank's role as the clearing and settlement bank for India's two largest stock exchanges.
Using the new system, the bank can plan its capacity, manage its infrastructure and maintain its assets from a single centralised location, says the company. Unicenter Asset Management and Unicenter Software Delivery enable HDFC administrators to automatically maintain an accurate inventory of IT devices and distribute software updates from a single console as needed.
SR Balasubramanian, vice president, information technology, HDFC Bank, says: "The rapid return on investment we have experienced with Unicenter deployment - which has resulted in lower system downtime and higher productivity - makes it clear that we made the correct decision."
