The bank will initially use Niku 6 to help manage and monitor the roll out of retail banking platforms internationally and also within First Direct, its UK-based direct banking operation.

David McMyn, head of global banking systems at HSBC, says: "We believe that Niku 6 will allow us to develop new levels of consistency and control in the way we roll out IT solutions - delivering them faster, smarter and more cost-effectively."

He adds: "Taking advantage of the product's robust collaboration, reporting and document management features will enable the group's IT staff to work more effectively, irrespective of their geographical location."

Niku software is designed for use by internal department - like IT, R&D, consulting services, marketing, legal - and combines project management, resource management, financial management, opportunity management, and knowledge management with collaboration, extranets, and an executive dashboard, in a single Web-native application.
