Under the agreement, CIC's biometric signature verification technology will be integrated into CardinalCommerce's Payment Authentication Platform, using CIC's iSign software development kit.

The platform complies with the Verified by Visa programme and is currently undergoing testing with MasterCard International's Secure Payment Application.

Guido DiGregorio, CIC's president and CEO, says: "By combining the universally accepted practice of signing one's name with the identification capabilities of our biometric technologies, CardinalCommerce and CIC will offer financial institutions, retailers and consumers the most secure and effective solution available for online transactions."

Michael Keresman, CEO for CardinalCommerce, adds: "We are confident that in Q1 of this year, Cardinal Commerce and CIC will execute the first 'live' 3-D Secure transaction to be biometrically verified across the Internet."
