Lehman Brothers signs Level 3 data centre lease

Lehman Brothers has signed a 15-year lease agreement with Level 3 Communications for the provision of 50,000 square feet of data centre space in Manhattan.

Lehman says it will use the space to enhance its internal data network and other operating systems.

Level 3's data centres serve as portals to the company's network and provide a secure environment in which customers can physically locate their equipment. The facilities also house Level 3's own equipment and offer customers interconnection with the public Internet and other communications networks.

Kevin O'Hara, Level 3's president and chief operating officer, comments: "Lehman's decision to choose Level 3 now gives us an anchor tenant at this facility."

In the New York metropolitan area, Level 3 has eight data centres with more than 750,000 square feet of technical space.
