Chang Hwa Bank migrates to Unisys ClearPath server

Taiwan's Chang Hwa Bank (CHB) has signed a three-year systems integration contract with Unisys worth $38 million.

Under the deal, the bank will migrate to a new server platform, Unisys ClearPath NX6830, which will run a core banking solution to support local currency and foreign currency-based deposits, loans, accounting, remittance, international finance and trade finance.

The new system will be integrated with CHB's existing branch systems, data warehouse and Internet banking and interactive voice response (IVR) delivery channels to provide customers with 24/7 access to their finances, says the company.

Commenting on Taiwan's recent entry into the World Trade Organisation, Po-shin Chang, chairman of the CHB, says: "Competition in the financial market is becoming increasingly stiff because of the internationalisation and liberalisation of the financial sector and the emergence of e-business. To meet customers' diverse needs for financial products, Chang Hwa Bank is proactively strengthening information technology in support of the development of new services the market expects."
