The new Web and telephone-based account gives consumers instant access to their money seven days a week and offers several interactive devices including a savings calculator, company car tax calculator, payslip calculator and a pensions calculator.

Through links to specially created Web pages, savers can access independent financial information from Grant Thornton, covering advice on tax issues and guidance on budget planning.

Consumers opening an online saver account will earn up to four per cent before tax on their savings.
