The Nasdaq Stock Market has appointed former Market XT head Michael Sanderson as chief executive officer of Nasdaq Europe.
Based in London, Sanderson will be responsible for leading the operation and development of the company as it carves out its position in the European marketplace. He will report to John Hilley, chairman of Nasdaq International.
Sanderson was previously chairman and CEO of Market XT, the first firm to offer after-hours equity trading to retail investors. He arranged for the sale of Market XT to Tradescape in August 2000 and served as its chairman.
Prior to Market XT, he was chairman and CEO of Reuters America Holdings, and worked for Merrill Lynch.
