An Post issues lending RFI in bid to take on the Irish banking establishment

An Post, the Irish Post Office has put out a Request For Information for potential partners to help develop new lending capabilities for consumers and businesses as it prepares to take on the country's leading banks.

Earlier signs of the institution's intent saw An Post enter into an agreement with Avantcard offering credit cards and personal loans, which is due to launch soon.

An Post is now seeking to partner with lenders that offer leading technology capabilities to better support homebuyers and businesses. The ultimate aim is the development and build of a digital financial services ecosystem platform capable of shaking up the entrenched banking sector.

Debbie Byrne, managing director of An Post Retail states: “An Post’s lending ambition offers a unique opportunity for a partner and An Post to develop a new and exciting range of lending products and services that are tailored and tested to meet the changing consumer and business’ needs that act as a key point of difference to the pillar banks.”

Prospective partners have been offered the opportunity to share information with An Post via an RFI process currently underway and available on eTenders.
