Swift has recruited a senior executive from Google for a newly-created data analytics position with a brief to extract the value of the banking co-operative's big data assets for the benefit of members and its own future product strategy.
Julien Blanchez joins Swift from Google, where he worked as a global security and compliance strategist. Blanchez spent ten years with Google’s security engineering teams, in California and Europe, working with large corporates and their regulators to to address security and compliance issues relating to cloud-based data services.
Luc Meurant, chief marketing officer, Swift, says: “Julien’s track record and experience as a data and compliance strategist gives Swift the ability to explore the opportunities and challenges presented by the harnessing of big data. This key appointment is a clear demonstration of our determination to further leverage data both to improve Swift’s own product development as well as to help customers deploy new services, whilst still maintaining safeguards around data privacy and security.”
