The companies say the solution enables mobile service providers and banks, individually or in partnership, to implement a secure mobile payment service for their customers, with little impact on their existing systems.

The combined offering comprises ACI’s BASE24 software running on the Compaq NonStop Himalaya platform. It can be deployed using any GSM phone on the market, say the companies, and will also co-exist with any new GSM technology brought online, including GPRS and UMTS.

Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly sell and deliver the service throughout Emea (Europe, Middle East, Africa).
