The benchmark represents the equivalent of processing more than one billion transactions per day, or alternatively, more than triple the transactions handled daily, worldwide, by a large consumer credit card payment processing system, says the company.

This result puts Compaq at the top of the industry price: performance in the Transaction Processing Council top ten list of clustered TPC-C benchmarks.

The benchmark was achieved on scale-out configuration of 32 ProLiant DL760 servers, each with eight 900MHz Intel Pentium III Xeon processors, running Microsoft Windows 2000 advanced server and Microsoft SQL server 2000 Enterprise Edition.
