Two of Wall Street's most powerful women are uniting behind blockchain

Two of Wall Street's most high-profile women have joined together to bring blockchain-based services to the financial markets as Sallie Crawcheck joins the board of Blythe Masters' distributed ledger outfit Digital Asset Holdings.

Krawcheck comes to DAH with an impressive CV, as former CEO of Bank of Bank of America Wealth Management, CEO and chair of Citi Global Wealth Management and CFO at Citigroup. Now operating as an entrepreneur, Krawcheck is the CEO and co-founder of Ellevest, a digital investment platform for women to be launched in 2016. She is also the chair of Ellevate Network, the global professional women’s network, and chair of the Pax Ellevate Global Women’s Index Fund, which invests in the top-rated companies in the world for advancing women.

In lending her experience to Digital Asset Holdings she joins with another of Wall Street's most high-powered female executives in Blythe Masters, who once ran JPMorgan Chase’s commodities business and helped invent credit-default swaps

Krawcheck's involvement follows a recent $60 million fundraising round at the firm, which included a pledge to expand its board of directors. Other board members include Catherine Flax, Ashwin Kumar, Sanoke Viswanathan, Mike Bodson, Blythe Masters, Donald Wilson, Sunil Hirani, and Cristóbal Conde.

Says Krawcheck: “Distributed ledger technology presents a once in a generation opportunity to strengthen the financial services as a whole. Digital Asset sits at the apex of finance and technology, uniquely positioning them to realise the promise of this new innovation, and I’m delighted to be able to contribute to the firm’s next phase of success."
