Westpac Banking Corporation has selected EDS to manage its mortgage processing operations in Adelaide. Details of the agreement are to be finalised by October.

The proposed 10-year plan will see Westpac outsource the processing and servicing of mortgages to EDS, while retaining control of the centre's sales, credit and collections functions.

Under the proposed agreement, all 1200 affected staff will be offered positions with EDS on terms that are comparable to their current terms and conditions at Westpac.

Group executive, banking and financial solutions, David Clarke, says the decision to outsource the centre's operations is in line with Westpac's strategy to offer the highest level of customer service, while achieving scale efficiencies across the group.

"The partnership will also ensure we have access to world-wide infrastructure and research and development capabilities to stay abreast of the rapidly changing technology environment," he adds.
