Spain's CaixaBank is launching a mobile-only bank in a bid to win over the smartphone-wielding socially connected millennial generation.

The new imaginBank offers a mobile app and a suite of services designed to plug into social networks and popular chat networks, including Facebook and WhatsApp.

Customers will be able to interact with the bank over Facebook without having to leave the social network and can also contact customers services operatives using Twitter, and through an embedded chat line.

The full network of CaixaBank ATMs are also available to imaginBank subscribers.

ImaginBank chairman Isidro Faine, says the bank has been built from the ground-up to target the youth market, with an emphasis on "digital banking, simplicity and service excellence".

CEO Gonzalo Gortazar, adds: “What we have created is a simple service offering; one that charges customers no maintenance fees but is comprehensive enough to cover all of the financial services demanded by the young target market. We have combined this with advanced technological capabilities and a genuinely digital experience to shape a highly competitive model and a set of benefits that is completely unique in the market."
