Digital banking newcomer Atom Bank has turned to the fintech supplier market for its latest recruit, appointing Paul Hanks from Steria as its chief technology officer.
Hanks will work alongside Anthony Thomson, founder and the first chairman of Metro Bank and Mark Mullen, former CEO of first direct, to launch the new digital-first bank early next year.
Hanks spent his early days as CTO of Beneficial Bank before moving to the supplier side in 2001 with successive appointments at IntraWeave, Misys, CapGemini, Quantum Source and Steria. In the latter role, Hanks supplied consultancy to leading UK banks to transform their IT and business architecture.
Hanks' skill-set includes experience with core banking systems, multi-channel design, open source and software as a service propositions.
Atom chair Thomson says: "Technology is at the heart of our banking proposition and Paul's involvement marks an exciting next step for Atom."
