Once an organisation predominantly made up of operators and vendors, over the last couple of years MEF has been pulling in increasing interest from banks bidding to join the mobile monetisation conversation.

At its 2014 Emea and Asia board elections, held during last week's MWC, Foulds, director of Barclays Mobile and Pingit, got the nod from colleagues to take over as Emea chair. He is joined on the board by a Rabobank representative and newly elected Johan Lindstrom, VP of digital commerce, Europe, at MasterCard.

The banking world is not as well represented in Asia, where InternetQ's Colin Miles was re-elected as chair. Raj Dhamodharan, regional head of mobile and e-commerce for Apac and Mena at MasterCard does, though, join the board.

Rimma Perelmuter, CEO, MEF, says: "The MEF Emea and Asia 2014 Chapter elections once again reflect the changing dynamics of our industry - Mobile 3.0 - as converging worlds enter the next phase in the evolution of mobile content and commerce; where mobile has become the primary tool for engagement and transaction in consumers' digital lives.
