UK finance information vendor Markit has launched an iPad application that will give users access to research and analysis from investment banking analysts, beginning with Deutsche Bank.

Markit Hub provides institutional investors with direct-to-source access to research, commentary, news and data from global banks and major third-party providers through a single entry point.

The new, free, Hub iPad app will initially have outside content from Deutsche Bank but Markit says additional providers will be added. Users are able to search content across providers and categories, create alerts, and save and annotate documents.

SEB, Barclays Capital, RBS, JPMorgan and UBS are among a host of bulge bracket investment banks to have embraced the popular Apple tablet as a means for providing institutional clients with researchy on the go.

Kevin Gould, president, Markit, says: "As financial market participants use the iPad increasingly as part of their daily workflow, the Markit Hub iPad app will provide substantial benefits to the consumers and providers of institutional research, data and analytics."

David Folkerts-Landau, global head, research, Deutsche Bank, adds: "We have embraced the opportunity to be the launch partner of the Markit Hub app which will enable us to give our clients access to Deutsche Bank global research whenever and wherever they want. The research app is tailored to keep pace with our clients' needs and with current market trends."
