Thomson Reuters is challenging developers in an international competition to create innovative mobile apps for financial professionals.
The StreetApps Challenge provides developers with the opportunity to build mobile apps using Thomson Reuters premium content for $25,000 in cash and prizes.
In a blog post introducing the contest, Vivek Nasta, global head of mobility, markets, Thomson Reuters, says: "Given the increasingly mobile lifestyle of our customers, Thomson Reuters decided to challenge the public to be creative and think differently about how our customers view and receive financial information when they are on-the-go. By opening up our content to the best and the brightest, our goal is to drive innovation in mobile financial applications and services."
Contestants will have access to Thomson Reuters content through Knowledge Direct, an application programming interface (API), to build apps on the iPhone, iPad, Android or Blackberry platforms, and are encouraged to include relevant external content that will differentiate their mobile app.
In true social media style, Thomson Reuters is inviting financial professionals to register their support and vote for their favourite apps in a Popular Choice' award category.
Shortlisted apps will go before a judging panel chaired by Thomson Reuters CEO Tom Glocer. The overall winner will walk away with $15,000 in prize money and a 16GB WiFi-enabled iPad.
