Swiss banking giant UBS has named Deutsche Telekom group CIO Peter Sany, as chief technology technology officer and head of ITI, effective April.
Sany, who is currently responsible for global IT at the German telecomms outfit, succeeds Scott Abbey as head of technology at UBS.
Abbey played a key role in the development of the Swiss bank's integrated IT infrastructure unit (ITI) in 2004, which relocated approximately 2350 tech staff from diverse business divisions to a central location in Zurich.
Sany is a tech industry veteran, with multi-industry experience. Prior to taking up the reins at Deutsche Telekom he spent 14 years at IBM, followed by a seven-year stint at pharmaceutical giant Novartis.
