Person-to-person payments outfit PayPal has appointed Scott Guilfoyle as its new senior vice president of platform services.
In his new role Guilfoyle will be responsible for product development, IT operations, security and corporate architecture. Guilfoyle will begin in September.
Guilfoyle was most recently chief information officer at online mortgage loan marketplace LendingTree.
Prior to this Guilfoyle was chief information officer at Bank of America's credit card business, where he oversaw an organisation of 1200 people.
Guilfoyle joined Bank of America from General Electric where he was one of the primary executives responsible for driving the company's e-business initiative, which migrated all of GE's aircraft business processes online.
Commenting on the appointment PayPal president Scott Thompson, says Guilfoyle's "extensive background and understanding of technology make him the ideal leader to take PayPal's robust payment platform into its next phase of growth".
