Macalla Software enhances mobile security and data delivery

Macalla Software has announced the availability of live data streaming and end-to-end encryption for mobile communications.

The Dublin-based vendor describes its Mobility LiveStream product as a next generation adaptive data streaming technology which will guarantee live streaming delivery of data such as stock quotes and charts to the mobile user.

Users will not need to wait until the release of 2.5G in order to receive live updates, says the vendor.

Niall O'Cleirigh, Macalla CEO, says the application can be used to guarantee delivery of time-critical data over fluctuating or unpredictable networks where quality may be lacking. "This is particularly crucial within the global financial services sector, where rigorous delivery requirements must be adhered to," he says.

Macalla has also released Mobility SafeGuard, an application which guarantees secure end-to-end transactions across WAP digital channels. The product addresses the WAP security gap, which occurs when data is unencrypted momentarily during transmission from a device through a gateway.

"This is a welcome security augmentation for our clients in the financial services arena where security considerations are paramount," says O'Cleirigh. "This will bring a positive impact particularly to retail banks who need this type of security guarantee as they seek to offer m-banking facilities through any number of operator gateways."

The company - which recently announced a new UK HQ in the City of London creating 50 jobs over the next 18 months - has also opened an office in Madrid, Spain. Macalla has appointed John MacNamara from Enterprise Ireland, to head up this operation, which will provide local support to Spanish customers. MacNamara says details of new customer wins in Spain are imminent.
