AvantGo is to implement biometric signature recognition and public key infrastructure technology from Marconi SecurTrust for its range of mobile information solutions.
Designed to complement AvantGo Enterprise solutions, which deliver corporate data and applications to mobile devices, the new solution is based around SecuReDKey, SecurTrust's patent-pending security suite. PDA users are requested to sign their device's screen each time a transaction or access to sensitive information is required. The signature is then analysed, not only by uniformity of handwriting, but also the speed at which it is written. Authentication is completed by verifying the authorisation parameters via PKI technology.

The solution will be targeted initially at key sectors where secure remote access is critical, says AvantGo, including banking and finance to enable funds transfer and other payments.
