The SmartDevice Gateway will enable banks to deliver account information and transactional applications to customer handhelds, says Brokat. The technology will provide users with online and offline interaction with banking applications so that customers may, for instance, enter multiple money transfers in offline mode and then connect to the wireless network as the transaction is about to be submitted.

Mark Loader, business development manager for AvantGo, comments: "We are both seeing strong interest from large organisations – financial services institutions in particular – who can see the power of extending rich customer relationship management applications and communications channels to their customers’ mobile devices. By integrating our technology into its Server Technologies solution set, Brokat is providing companies with a fast and assured route to mobile CRM and mobile working."
