SunGard is to set up a single operations centre in Belgium for the AvantGard treasury management product set and close two existing facilities in the Benelux region.
The vendor says the centre in Mechelen, Belgium, will serve as the mainland European operations, design and development centre catering for AvantGard Payments, Treasury and customer services.
Staff from two existing SunGard offices in Antwerp and Mechelen will relocate into a single location, with the move expected to be completed in November 2007.
SunGard confirms there will be no redundancies among staff as a result of the move.
Hans Cobben, chief operating officer of SunGard's AvantGard business, comments: "With two existing teams needing to work closely together, there is significant value in having them consolidated into one location. This new centre will provide a number of benefits for us and our customers in mainland Europe - serving as a customer support centre delivering first- and second-line support services for the AvantGard product set, as well as a design centre for our AvantGard Payments and AvantGard Treasury solutions."
