Reuters has reportedly invested around $10 million in the facility, which is located in Zhongguancun, as of September.

The unit currently employs about 200 staff although this is expected to triple to 600 in three years' time.

As well as housing product development staff, the centre will also employ research analysts who will compile company financial reports and forecasts and input economic data for markets in China, South Korea and Japan.

Reuters chief executive Tom Glocer says the investment in the new centre underscores the vendor's commitment to China.

The vendor said last year that it was targeting emerging markets and planned to grow its operations in countries like China and India.
