Swedish trading systems vendor Orc Software has appointed Thomas Bill as its new chief executive officer.

Bill will replace Lars Johansson who has been acting as interim chief exectuive since Februrary when former Orc CEO Jonas Lindström quit the firm following disagreements with staff over product development.

Bill joins Orc from Swedish data security company Protect Data where he has been CEO for the past four years. He joined Protect Data in February 2001 as manager of its Pointsec Mobile Technologies business.

Prior to Protect Data Bill held a variety of management posts at Front Capital Systems and was responsible for the establishment of Front's subsidiary in the UK.

He will assume his new position at Orc on 1st October and will take over from Johansson who has resigned from the firm and will leave in January 2007.
