Industry veteran Steve Popple has joined Swiss core banking systems vendor Temenos as director of business development, Central and Eastern Europe.

Reporting to Noah Krähenmann, business manager for Central Europe, Popple will be based in the UK but driving sales in Central and Eastern Europe, specifically in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Popple has worked in banking his entire career and in banking systems since he joined BIS in 1983. He has also held roles at Kapiti, Winter Partners, Sanchez and Fincentric.

Most recently he was director of business development at Aspace Solutions, which he joined in January 2001. The business was acquired by California-based ActivIdentity in January 2005.

Earlier this month Temenos appointed former City Networks CEO Costa Christodoulou to the newly created role of European regional director.
