US ATM manufacturer Diebold has signed an agreement to purchase Genpass Service Solutions (GSS), a provider of third party ATM maintenance services, from US Bancorp. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
GSS is the ATM maintenance unit of Genpass, which was purchased by US Bancorp in May 2005.
Diebold says the GSS acquistion will result in the addition of nearly 100 staff to its service team and will extend its services to 6000 ATMs across the US located in national, community and regional banks, credit unions, retailers and other sites.
Commenting on the acquisition, Chuck Ducey, Diebold's vice president of global development and services, says: "This new addition to our service organisation will enable Diebold to add nearly 100 highly skilled service professionals to our service team. This continued growth of industry knowledge will benefit each and every Diebold service customer."
Diebold has also extended a maintenance agreement with US Bancorp for a further five years under which it will service around 7100 ATMs across America.
