The centre designs and develops financial IT systems for JP Morgan's investment banking and asset management divisions around the world.

The operation was set up in 1999 and has grown to employ 600 staff.

The Scottish Executive, Scotland's governing body, is providing £1.5 million in regional assistance for the expansion of the centre.

Michael Ashworth, chief information officer, JPMorgan, says: "Glasgow continues to provide JPMorgan with access to a highly talented and skilled workforce and it is a key strategic location for JPMorgan globally."
