Visa appoints Terence Milholland CTO

Visa International has appointed Terence Milholland as executive vice president and chief technology officer.

Most recently, Milholland served as CIO/CTO for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and previously held the post of CIO at Boeing Company.

In his new position, Milholland will oversee the IT management functions of Visa International, including intellectual property, data protection, information security and interoperability policies and standards across the six Visa regions worldwide.

Milholland will also manage the firm's relationship with Inovant and Visa Distributed Processing Solutions - the primary processing units. Working closely with Visa's chief commercial officer, Matthew Piasecki, Milholland will also help define and execute a "technically robust, commercially-oriented, worldwide processing strategy".

He will report to Christopher Rodrigues, president and chief executive officer of Visa International.

Visa has also named ANZ's Peter Hawkins as chairman of its Asia Pacific board, replacing Antonio Go, chairman of Equitable PCI Bank.

New Zealand-born Hawkins is group MD, group strategic development, ANZ. He was a member of the Visa Asia Pacific board from 1995 to 1997 before rejoining in 1999. He has also served on the Visa International board since 2001.

Hawkins has been with ANZ since 1971 during which time he has held a range of senior positions including group MD, personal financial services, general manager, Asia Pacific and MD, New Zealand.

Visa says Go, who has been chairman of its Asia Pacific board for over seven years, will remain on the regional board.
