CSC to provide card processing technology to Sinsys

Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) is to provide bespoke IT applications and services, based on its Cams II technology, to financial firms signing up to Sinsys, the pan-European card processing utility set up in 2003 by Banksys of Belgium, Interpay of the Netherlands and Italy's Società per i Servizi (SSB).

Based in Brussels Sinsys was established to provide acquiring and issuing processing services to European card processors.

Sinsys says CSC has set up a competency centre in Italy to provide its Cams II card and merchant software to banks signing up to its services.

The platform streamlines and automates operations for the entire card business. The system authorises new applicants, creates and dispatches PIN numbers and cards and handles transactions every time a card is used - including automatically deducting fees payable. CSC says the system can handle 100 million accounts and high volumes of card transactions.

Nicola Cordone, general deputy manager at SSB and MD of Sinsys, says the Italian firm has been using CSC's Cams II since 2001.

"Not only can products be modified quickly to support a wide range of processing options, the platform's multi-country, multi-language characteristics can be adapted to each situation," says Cordone.
