Moneybox confirms bid speculation

Moneybox, the troubled UK independent cash machine operator, says it has received several bid approaches that may lead to an offer for the company.

Moneybox has been on the receiving end of bid speculation since it lost its chief executive after issuing a profits warning earlier this month. Shares in the vendor crashed to a low of 19.5 pence two weeks ago when it revealed that full year profits would be £1.5 million below market expectations of £3.4 million.

The stock has since staged a mini-rally, rising to 34.5 pence, amid market talk of a bidding war for the beleagured firm.

Moneybox has not released details of potential suitors, although they could include UK-based rivals Scott Tod and Cardpoint, or international operators such as Hanco - recently acquired by Royal Bank of Scotland - and TRM of the US.
