The first Moneybox machines are already live at selected Deutsche Bahn locations and the firm has been given the go-ahead to co-ordinate roll out to other sites. Deutsche Bahn operates in excess of 5400 stations with approximately 2400 reception halls.

Moneybox currently has an estate of around 250 machines in Germany through contracts with motorway service station operator Tank und Rast, the petrol retailer Total and a variety of retail groups.

Paul Stanley, Moneybox chief executive, points out that over 4,100 million visits are made to German train stations every year.

He says: "We firmly believe that Germany presents us with a major business opportunity. Our experience from other markets has demonstrated that the installation of ATM machines at train station locations is an important step in building a profitable business."
