Trade matching venture Omgeo has appointed Morgan Stanley fixed income executive and TradeWeb chairman Bob Gartland to its board of managers.
At Morgan Stanley, Gartland is responsible for overseeing the infrastructure for the fixed income division. This includes technology and operations planning, STP strategy and e-commerce investments.
Gartland is also a board member and chairman of TradeWeb. The electronic fixed income network has increasingly been looking to extend its remit along the STP supply chain, providing automated links from pre-trade and execution to post-trade processing and settlement. The appointment signals a rapprochement between Omgeo and TradeWeb on the heels of the latter's acquisition by Omgeo parent Thomson Financial.
Omgeo says the appointment of Gartland to its board of managers will help it to gain increased insight into the challenges and opportunities of today's fixed income markets.
