The new office, which will be located in the city's financial district, will initially be staffed by senior representatives from the vendor's London office. CMS will also recruit experienced US staff with local market experience and contacts.

CMS says the office will enable it to be close to two of its major customers - the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) - both of which signed up to its Transactional Data Interface (TDI) product last year.

Bob Antell, chief executive of CMS, says: "The USA represents a major market for our TDI product and it was essential we had a sales office in Chicago. This will enable us to target efficiently other exchanges and many other financial institutions."

In December last year, CMS raised £2.5 million in a share placing to fund its international expansion and drive sales and marketing of its TDI platform in the US.
